I thought I did. I mean, why not? I envisioned a relaxing old age of books, movies, great-grandchildren, gossiping with the other elderly folks. The longer we can put off death, the better, I figured.

Intaking my fruits and vegetables are a great way to get natural antioxidants into our bodies. As our bodies age and are exposed to stressors, oxidative stress increases which can damage the cells and genes and lead to chronic illness. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with natural antioxidants which combat these stressors and fight inflammation. Examples of antioxidants high in fruits and vegetables are Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Vitamin A is abundant in carrots, dark leafy greens, winter squashes, cantaloupes, and bell peppers. Many people think eight servings are hard to get in a day. However, there are many ways to incorporate them into our day. Using several of them at time in salads, stir fry, smoothies, sauces and soups are a great way to get 2-3 servings at a time. Also using your plate as a guide, try to fill the plate with fruits and vegetables with your meals. You can get creative by adding mixed vegetables to pastas and casseroles, and fruits to pancake or waffles mixes and baked goods.

We often say that beeswax candles are the BEST candles ever! Going back in history, beeswax was the preferred candle type by royalty, nobility and the church because of its pleasant aroma and beautiful light. Argument could be made that it is still the preferred candle type, at least for those with information to base their decision. The good news is that beeswax candles are no longer out of reach for most consumers. Beeswax candles are the cleanest, brightest, and longest burning. Air PurifyingUnlike many other candles, burning beeswax actually purifies the air. Beeswax candles emit negative ions which bind with particulate matter in the air, causing the floating particles in the air to drop to the ground. Some say negative ions also stimulate the pituitary gland, thus increasing creativity, intuition, and dream activity. America has become an empire, a fact that Americans are reluctant to admit and that critics of America regard with great alarm. Franz Schubert excelled in every musical genre, writing string quartets that can be set beside the greatest of Haydn and Mozart, symphonies that stand comparison with Beethoven, and works for piano that paved the way for Schumann and Chopin.

Schubert, however, was the first, and the greatest, songwriter in history. Having a wide audience is another one of the things that make pop music so great. Unlike other genres that cater to a specific group of people, pop music has mass appeal and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. This makes it the perfect genre for parties or other events where you want everyone to be able to enjoy the music.

The idea of a unified England was not a new one. King Offa of Mercia, who reigned between 757 and 769 CE, managed to control it as such for a short time, but his goal had never been for unity. He just wanted to rule over everything he could. Therefore, the lands he snagged control over fell apart shortly after his death, with no true allegiances holding them together. Alfred became King of Wessex in 871, at a time when England was once again divided into a series of smaller kingdoms. During the beginning of his reign, the Danes were invading England, taking over kingdom after kingdom and, according to contemporary sources, terrorizing the land. When the Danes came to Wessex, they managed to make Alfred flee and take refuge. Alfred took his time in refuge to get a plan together to retake Wessex, but he needed many men to do so. This is where his style of rule, different from many other kings, proved itself beneficial. Alfred ran his kingdom in such a way that it was like a partnership between the king and the people. This included having trials by juries of peers and government by local officials. The people felt they participated in the rule of their kingdom, which made them invested in what happened. Therefore, when Alfred rallied them to come and fight against the Danes to take back Wessex, the people responded and came to his aid. There was a fierce battle, and Alfred came out victorious. Afterward, his victory, which had occurred at the time of Easter, was compared to the resurrection of Christ and it established him as a great war leader.

Not only did Alfred strengthen England with the defeat of the Danes, but he took great steps to unify his people into one country. A large part of this was writing documents in the Anglo-Saxon vernacular language spoken by regular people of the country, rather than in Latin. He wanted things to be in a language people could understand, learn, and communicate in. He founded schools for common people and sponsored the translations of many Latin texts, as well as translating some himself. 041b061a72
