If you originally installed your PocketBible book files to main memory and now want to move them to a storage location, use the following procedure: Exit all applications on your handheld and then do a soft reset. Connect your mobile device to your PC so that Microsoft ActiveSync shows Connected. In ActiveSync, click the Explore button at the top. Double-click My Pocket PC (or Mobile Device). Double-click your Storage Card folder (it may say SD Card or CF Card). Double-click the My Documents folder. If you do not see a My Documents folder on your storage card, you need to create one. Select File, New Folder to create the folder. Create a Laridian Books folder. Select File, New Folder to create the folder. Click the Back button until you get back to My Pocket PC (or Mobile Device). Double-click My Documents and then Laridian Books. This is where the books are located when installing to main memory. Select the LBK (PocketBible books) and LDR (DailyReader books) files that you wish to move to the storage card by holding down your Ctrl key and clicking the files with your mouse. Click Edit (at the top of Explore) and Cut. You won't see anything happen yet. Click the Back button until you get back to My Pocket PC (or Mobile Device). Double-click your Storage Card folder (it may say SD Card or CF Card). Double-click the My Documents folder. Double-click the Laridian Books folder. Click Edit and Paste. The files will start copying to the new location. NOTE: If your device includes File Explorer, you can perform these operations directly on the device, rather than using ActiveSync. Another option is to delete the LBK and LDR books from the Laridian Books folder in main memory and then reinstall the files to the storage card location. After Moving the Book(s): If you have a Pocket PC or Palm-size PC, PocketBible will automatically find the books on the storage card. No other steps are necessary. However, if you have a Handheld PC model, it will be necessary to "open" the book from its new location. When DailyReader is started, you may receive error messages stating that a file has been moved. You can tap through the error messages and then open the book in its new location. You may also need to change the location of the default Bible in DailyReader. To do this, tap View, Options, and Bible. Select Browse and then select your preferred Bible.
Routledge eBooks are delivered via VitalSource's Bookshelf app, available on Android, iOS, PC, Mac, Kindle Fire, and Chromebook. The application allows you to download your book to your device, giving you lifetime access to books you have purchased outright. You can also rent books for a cheaper alternative, but your offline access will be limited to the rental period.
Note: As of 8/15/2017, the Orbis-Cascade Alliance (Summit) will no longer be providing shared e-books through ProQuest Ebook Central (formerly EBL and ebrary). This has been replaced with access to e-books provided directly from Wiley, Taylor & Francis (Routledge and CRC), Oxford University Press, and the California University Press. No digital rights management, so chapters can be downloaded like articles. Includes some purchased content and some contract-period-only-access e-books.
It's complicated, because WSU has access to academic e-books from multiple providers, and available functionalities (more than one person use at same time, download PDF chapters, download full book to a desktop/laptop or digital device, etc.) depending on the e-book provider, the book publisher, and how each title was purchased/licensed by the WSU Libraries:
Most of the e-books in these collections are scholarly e-books in PDF or EPUB format that use Adobe Digital Editons (ADE) digital rights management . They can be read on-screen and, in some cases, can be downloaded and read using your desktop/laptop or a tablet or smartphone. Note: most of WSU Libraries e-books are in PDF format; a few are in EPUB. EPUB e-books will work generally well on a computer, however the PDFs do not work well on anything but a computer or laptop, or a tablet such as an iPad (on an smartphone they tend to swim around like reading microfiche...). However, vendors may allow you to download a chapter or page sequence in "regular" PDF format that you will be able to retain in perpetuity.
